D-mannose is a simple sugar (monosaccharide) extracted from birch or larch wood. This sugar is not metabolized (it is fermented in the intestine), does not raise blood sugar or make you fat (unlike sucrose, the common table sugar) and reaches the urinary tract unchanged.

It is able to inhibit the adhesion of bacteria responsible for urinary tract infections, favoring their elimination through the urine, limiting the onset of infections.

The bearberry is an evergreen shrub belonging to the Ericaceae family, belonging to the same family as the blueberry. It owes its name to the French botanist Michel Adanson, who in 1763 was the first to classify the plant with the Greek term actòs which means 'bear', as according to popular belief bears are particularly greedy for it. Its height varies from 15 to 30 cm and the parts of the plant mainly used are the leaves, 15-20 mm long and about 5-8 mm wide. It is a plant that lives in poor stony and sandy soils, acidic but also very humid. Bearberry has been used since ancient times to treat disorders mainly related to urinary tract diseases with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory action.
